The Greatest Gift Of All

Christmas time is here!

I love Christmas time. I love the food, decor, music, and just the feeling of Christmas. There is something special about this time of the year. Even with the stress of buying all the gifts, making all the food, and attending all the choir rehearsals, I still love it.

But amid all the family fun and stress, it can be so easy to forget why we celebrate. We do not celebrate the gifts or the delicious food. Christmas is the time where we celebrate the birth of our Savior — The Greatest Gift of all!

During this time of the year, I must make sure I take the time to step back away from it all and remember the real reason we celebrate. Jesus came down from heaven, left his Father and the comfort of home. He came and lived life on earth, dealing with the stresses and hardships of everyday life. He gave Himself up for us. He allowed Himself to be beaten and broken on our behalf.

In doing this, He defeated the enemy. Death no longer has a hold on Him or on those who call Him their Savior. He did not just defeat sin and death, but He made us righteous before God. This is truly The Greatest Gift. Now, we can live free from sin. Jesus’ sacrifice restored our relationship with God.

I encourage you during this wonderful season to remember The Greatest Gift. Take this time away from it all to reflect on all that God has done. Have a Very Merry Christmas!
